Full-on September Greetings, People!
The new season is upon us. School and football have begun. I know some of you don't care about football (and some don't care about school, but that's another discussion), but football is one of the last reality shows. It's (hopefully) not a predetermined product, but a good competition between clubs. For me it's an occasional diversion from the normal stresses of life. Hopefully you don't get too stressed out watching! Remember... it is a game. Go Hawks... and whatever your team happens to be.
What's Goin' On...
*Tonight at 6:30 there'll be another hymn sing and prayer time! Come on down to the fellowship hall & enjoy the hymns and prayers together. Snacks will also be in attendance. :-)
*This Sunday afternoon, head on over from 5 to 7 to the outdoor pavilion at the Colbert Presbyterian Church (right by New Hope) to eat (dogs, brats, chips & pop), listen to music by Just In Time and bid on a basket of goodies... bake sale items will be there also. It all benefits New Hope Resource Center and their helping people in tight spots with rent, utilities, clothes or food.
*There will be no prayer on Thursday morning Sept 11 at the church. Join us on Mondays or the following Thursday.
*Sunday, Sept 14 after the service we'll have a baptism in the river. Nine of them as of this counting!
*Wednesday Sept 17 starts the Women's Bible Study in the fellowship hall. The study will be on Colossians ("Truthfilled") by Ruth Chou Simons. The book is about $25, but if that's a hardship, let us know. Contact Jan H. (text ok).
This Sunday...
*We start with the 'new and improved' pre-service learning time! From 9 to 9:45am, we'll have nursery, birth thru age 4; Story Hour (with stories, crafts and games), ages 5 to 4th grade; and Ambassadors for Christ, 5th thru 12th grade. Then of course, the old standard Ace (Adult Christian Education) in the fellowship hall; Rick is starting a series called "Tough Topics for Tough Times". Something for everyone! Check it out, starting this Sunday.
*In the service, we'll sing, pray, hear from Revelation on the topic of Suffering and Endurance (it is there in the book... kind of inescapable). Kids will be dismissed for KidZone as usual. We'll observe communion at the end of the service.
See you Sunday?
