Weekly Update 9/12/2025

Rob is OUT camping – as such, Jeff E. will be doing the Blast this week.

Let’s start with prayers for the family of Charlie Kirk.  I had most of the blast written, but the most recent news today (the 10th) requires this to be first and foremost (and a total re-write of the blast).  And then the 3 children that were shot in Minneapolis – again, keep those families in your prayers. How do we make sense of senselessness?  How do we rectify horrible wrongs? I tend to try to be humorous and lighthearted – but that seems out of place today.  I also ask us to pray and remember the victims of 9/11 – Senseless – brutal – not of God.  If I am being honest with myself, I struggle to see Romans 8:28 in the events of today and 9/11.  Matthew 5:4 provides some help (Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted).  And Revelation 21:4 actually provides some reassurance and “hope” (He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away). So, I KNOW that my God is BIG. I know that this world is fallen, and this is NOT our final destination.  I know that I am to be faithful and obedient to and that Christ will have the victory, even in me.  And I need to EXPECT this (“But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days.” – 2 Timothy 3:1).

And maybe/possibly, we Christians will be a light in this sometimes dark world.

The sun will rise tomorrow (unless the Lord returns) and God will still be on His throne.

ACE and Sunday School have started – please come and join us.  Coffee is always on (assuming Jason is on the coffee duty and not me).  We started with the 'new and improved' pre-service learning time! From 9 to 9:45am, we'll have nursery, birth thru age 4; Story Hour (with stories, crafts and games), ages 5 to 4th grade; and Ambassadors for Christ, 5th thru 12th grade. Then of course, the old standard Ace (Adult Christian Education) in the fellowship hall; Rick is starting a series called "Tough Topics for Tough Times". Something for everyone! Check it out.

Baptism service this Sunday (9/14) – Let’s all join in this glorious celebration.

Home groups and bible studies have started – if you are not in a group, join one.  Home groups are FELLOWSHIP.  Remember Hebrews 10:25. The flyer in this Sunday’s  bulletin has an updated list of home groups – find one – join one.  If you need another copy of the list, see Melissa at the office.

AWANA - All children preschool (limited) through 12th grade are welcome. Pre-K through 6th grade meet Wednesdays at 6:30-8:30 beginning on September 17th. Jr and Senior High meet on Mondays at 7-9 and begin on September 22nd. Any questions and to request registration forms, contact Leanne G. or Jayne K.

P.S - COOOOOOKIES – are always welcome – keep them coming (and make sure they have chocolate in them).

P.S.S – Hug your kids a bit extra this week.

Ok – one bit of humor.
