Hey there, Saints.
Last week I told you about United in Crisis, a group that has existed for 17 years and is active all over the globe, helping the church of Jesus work together to meet physical, emotional and spiritual needs in crisis. They had a training last night with about 80 in attendance. Local church people are being trained up to help with the initial needs in a crisis (place to stay, clothing, food), short term needs (cleaning up, dealing with insurance) and long term needs (trauma, rebuilding, support). Believers in Spokane County are learning how to best help their friends and neighbors whether by fielding a phone call (from home but on a separate network), grabbing a shovel or shepherding thru the long process of recovery. Go to UICGS.ORG (Unity in Crisis Greater Spokane) for more info or to donate. I think this is a fantastic idea. In other places, many have come to know Jesus thru the service of his church.
What’s Goin’ On…
*TODAY! CCC hosts the area-wide Revival Prayer Gathering in the fellowship hall from 3 to 9pm. Come for a short while or long. We’ll be praying with others in Spokane to ask God to revive his church and save thousands who don’t yet believe in Him. The format is prayer and worship, led by pastors and others. I’ll lead the first hour. We’ll break for a dinner, prepared by the men of Men’s Alliance at 6pm. Come on down!
*If you’re interested in having a table at the Craft Fair on October 24, pick up an application form in the foyer (on the racks).
*Kitty S is offering back to school haircuts. Call her to set up an appointment. (Thanks, Kitty!)
*KidZone is looking for volunteers to assist with the new Right Now Media curriculum starting on Sept 13. See Jayne K for more info. There’s a training on the new curriculum coming up soon.
This Sunday…
We’ll have all the usual suspects: worship, prayer, hanging out with one another and hearing about four lepers.
See you Sunday?
Pastor Rob
