Greetings from Pastor Rob 10-30-2026
End of October Greetings, People! |
Man, is fall just flying by?? Here we are, on the cusp of November. The craft fair is past, All Saints Day is Monday and Thanksgiving beckons. (I’m already looking forward to dressing. That’s the bready stuff with sage, etc, not getting dressed…). |
I’m still moseying thru the psalms. These verses got my attention lately: The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me? The Lord is with me; he is my helper. I look in triumph on my enemies. It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in humans. It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in princes. Psalm 118:6-9. Indeed, what can anyone do to you if the Lord is with you? Some of you can be a tad fearful or anxious. This might be a chunk to meditate on or even memorize. I’m putting it in my back pocket for the time when fear comes knocking. AND, in light of the midterm elections next week, it’s timely to think about trusting more in God than in ‘princes’. I’m still voting and praying for the election tho. You? |
What’s Goin’ On… |
** It’s TIME CHANGE SATURDAY!! Turn those clocks back an hour on Saturday. You do get extra sleep! |
*If you still haven’t voted, the time is now. Tuesday is the deadline. If you need help in deciding, We Believe We Vote has done the hard work for you by interviewing all the candidates and making recommendations. Go to webelievewevote.com/voterguide for those suggestions or grab a sheet of paper with them printed in our foyer on Sunday. |
*There’s a new process for getting cookies (and other snacky items) to church for our fellowship time after the service. It does take 15-18 dozen goodies per Sunday to satisfy you cookie monsters. Now you can sign up on line! Please do. Go to https://www.chattaroycc.com/sweets-n-treats-sign-up and pick a Sunday to bake and bring. Thanks! |
*This Wednesday, Nov 4, the Women’s Bible Study will begin a new book: Abide by Jen Wilkin. It’s about the three smaller John books toward the end of the New Testament. Books are $25 each and available in Melissa’s office. |
*Operation Christmas Child (aka 'shoeboxes' is ongoing. If you haven’t done it already, grab a clear box in the foyer and get ready to bless a child with gifts and the gospel somewhere around the world. Nov 22 is the absolute deadline. |
*The Men’s Retreat is coming up fast: Nov 6-8 up at Riverview Bible Camp. Cost? $130, and that includes rooms, good food & plenty of it and a steak dinner on Saturday eve. Last chance to sign up! This Sunday in the fellowship hall. Do it! |
*Our annual business meeting happens in two weeks on Nov 15, after the service. We will be voting on new deacon nominees, Alisa C, Bud M and Chris H. We’ll also vote on the proposed budget (see below about this Sunday). There will be the annual reports also. Everyone is welcome to be there; only members will vote. |
*There’ll be a Greeter Meeting after the service on Dec 6th. Thanks, greeters, for what you do! |
*The new Women’s Book Club kicks off in January. See Lynn E for details. |
This Sunday… |
At the 9am hour, Ambassadors for Christ (5th thru 12th grades) will meet upstairs. There’s something different in Ace this week: we’ll meet the new deacon nominees, get to know them and ask any questions. We’ll also get a peek at the proposed budget for 2027, asking about it as well. Come on down! Here’s an opportunity to ask any question about the church that have been on your mind. In the service, we’ll worship, pray, hear the first message in the new Minor Prophets series, this one from Obadiah, the shortest book in the Old Testament. AND... we’ll observe communion. |
See you Sunday? |

p.s. Nurse to doctor: “We were out of cough medicine, so I gave him a laxative. It worked! Now he’s afraid to cough.” |
