August Salutations, Saints.

Man, it’s been a tough week, eh? We were just finishing up a funeral here at the church last Saturday when someone pointed out the billowing smoke in the sky. We all know people who were evacuated or who lost a home. Where is God when it hurts? I know one praying believer who lost his home, and the text he put out was asking for God to use this in the lives of people in the county. May we be reminded of eternity! The pastors I gather with prayed for the county on Wednesday, asking for rain, for redemption, for God’s Spirit to move in the area, for those fighting fires and for those turning off utilities and raising power poles, etc. I’m sure you’ve prayed as well. Keep praying. Let’s keep our eyes open to see how we can assist others. I’m thankful for you who have called or texted the office with offers of places to stay, etc.

What’s Goin’ On…

*the Bible Truck is here! It’s like a mini-museum dedicated to the best selling book of all time. It’ll be at the church parking lot tonight from 4-8pm. Come on down, see the exhibit and watch as a copy of the Gutenberg press (which did the first printed Bible in 1455) print a copy of John 3:16 in one of 5 languages. Bring the kids, grandkids and neighbors. We’ll have snacks, water and Bibles to give away.

*This Sunday we have our annual church picnic with baptism! Three have contacted me for a river baptism. We’ll provide pulled pork and pulled chicken sandwiches and water bottles. YOU provide… a dessert or fruit if your last name starts with A—K. If it begins with L—Z, bring a salad or side dish

*This month on August 21, CCC gets to host the Revival Prayer Gathering for the area. We’ll pray from 3 to 9pm. Drop in any time ands stay as long as you’d like. We’ll break for a meal around 6… I’m looking for a few people to grill burgers and set up the food. Talk to me if you can do it.

This Sunday…

We’ll worship, hear how Don P found Jesus (last Sunday he had evacuees at his house), hear how the new church in Mexico is doing and we’ll look at 1 Corinthians 11… a tough passage on head coverings and communion. Can this chapter really apply to us modern believers? I think so, come on down & check it out.

See you Sunday?

Pastor Rob
