Happy Independence Day, Saints!

The more I read about the founding of our country, the more I think they

were very close to evangelical believers. The 1st Great Awakening

(starting in the 1740s) set the stage for the revolution. God, his word

and his ways were highly respected, even by so-called Deist Thomas

Jefferson and skeptic Benjamin Franklin (wait until you hear the quote

from Franklin on Sunday. He sounds like a preacher! He was good friends

with evangelist George Whitefield). Our country has lasted 250 years

because of the gracious God-sent revivals fueled in part by the prayers

of God’s people. Man, do we need revival now. There are good things

happening among youth especially… it may be the beginning. Pray,

people! Join us in hanging out with God on Mondays from 3-4pm or

Thursdays from 8-9am. The Sheild’s and the Jarmer's are checking out

the new movie Young Washington today, by Angel Studios about the

pre-revolutionary days. The trailer looks good! There are some top notch

actors in it… and there’s always the popcorn. :-)

Needs: Showers of Blessings could use baby socks for boys, stuffed

animals for boys and hand-made afghans (boys).

New Hope Resource Center needs liquid dish soap, paper towels, TP,

shampoo, cat food, pods of laundry detergent, liquid hand soap, travel

sized products, small & medium men’s shirts and men’s underwear in

S, M and L.

Awana: If you don't like the lime light but enjoy creating - WE NEED

YOU! We need a creative person who is willing to refresh our Awana board

monthly. This is one way we share current info with the Church body

about Awana happenings. We would give ideas and an event calendar and

you can use your creative gift. Contact Jayne K or

Leanne.

What’s Goin’ On…

*Tomorrow! Our July 4th celebration here along the river, with burgers,

hotdogs, side dishes (we all bring those), games (corn hole!), a movie

and more. Text Chris H so they can cover things

burger-wise. Bring an extra game, lawn chairs and that side dish.

Festivities start at 3pm. The movie rolls inside at 6-ish (it’s family

friendly—Signed, Sealed, Delivered). Things will be done in time for

you to head off to whatever firework display you’re thinking about

attending.

*Join us this Sunday after the service for about 6 new baptisms! We’ll

get to hear from those being baptized briefly at the end of the

service, then we’ll head out to the river.

*MEN! There’s a Men’s BBQ this coming Thursday, July 9, from 6 to

8pm. The guys from Fellowship Church (they’ve been at the men’s

retreat the last couple years) and Life Springs Church will join us.

Bring a lawn chair and a side dish to share.

*July 18, 1pm at the church,  there’s a wedding shower for Leila

R. No registry, but they’re having a money tree for a honeymoon

fund.

*Wednesday July 22 it’s a Family Night out at Avista Stadium for an

Indian’s ball game. Ticket’s are just $14. Cheap eats too! See Ron

S after the service for tickets.

*Don’t forget VBS! It’s July 20-23 for 4 days. Please bring small

prizes (puzzles, toys, crafts, games snacks) to help reinforce positive

lessons and celebrate participation. Thanks, you VBS helpers…

This Sunday…

We will have our quarterly Concert of Prayer, led by the elders. Our

focus will be on the praying founding fathers, including Washington,

Jefferson and Franklin. We’ll observe the Lord’s Supper and after

the service we’ll baptize 6 people.

Sounds like a celebration!
