Hoopfest Greetings, Saints!
Have you ever been downtown during Hoopfest? It’s crazy. Thousands of
teams (last I knew, 7000!) with 3 on each team, so 21,000… and
that’s not including family members, friends, vendors and media. Think
about the logistics to block off most downtown streets, get courts set
up, provide monitors for each game and work the massive bracket. Wow. It
really is kind of festive, if you can handle the crowds with grace. This
year it may be better and worse regarding the weather: it’s cooler,
thankfully… but it’s also supposed to rain. This is the largest 3 on
3 tourney in the world. There just might be a good reason to call
Spokane ‘Hooptown’, especially with the Zags here. Whatever
you do, I hope your weekend is great.
What’s Goin’ On…
*The Fourth of July celebration will be on… July 4, interestingly,
here at the church from 3 until about 8:30 or so. Hot dogs and burgers
are on the menu; bring a side dish to accompany. Let Chris H know
you’re planning on being here for a count on the food.
Bring chairs and any lawn games you might use (there will be corn hole
on site). There’s a family-friendly movie showing indoors at about 6.
More details are on the table in the foyer.
*July 5 we’re having a baptism in the river after the service. If
you’d like to be baptized, text Pastor Rob.
*MEN! Plan on a BBQ here at the church the evening of July 9. Details to
follow.
*Wednesday, July 22 is Family Night at Avista Stadium for a baseball
game. 50 seats (with backs) are available and tickets are just $14.
They’ve got some cheap eats that night too. See Ron S after the
service. Deadline to get tix is July 12.
*There’s a free summer concert benefitting New Hope Resource Center
and No. Co. Food Pantry. There will be a raffle and food is for sale. It
happens from 6 to 8pm and will be on the grounds of the Colbert
Presbyterian Church, corner of Hwy 2 and Colbert Road.
This Sunday…
We’ll have worship, prayer and Pastor Rick will talk about Knowing and
Doing the Will of God. I’ll bet many of you are interested in knowing
God’s will! Come on down.
See you Sunday?
