Sunny June Greetings, People.
We’re at that time of the year… the summer solstice. I just love the
extra light. I’ll stand outside about 9:15pm and marvel. Enjoy the
lit-up weekend! Just don’t mow your lawn at 9:15pm…
Deb and I are watching our daughter’s kids, 2 at 9 years old
(fraternal twins) and one at 11yo until Saturday night. Our daughter is
over near Seattle doing some classwork for her degree. Well, Deb’s
mostly watching them because I’m working. When I’m home, I realize
God had a really good plan when he designed parents of young kids to be
younger themselves. I normally think of myself as a pretty calm guy...
until I get interrupted multiple times with questions, the need to show
me something and desires to eat. Sometimes it’s 30 minutes after a
meal and they’re hungry. I’d forgotten how much kids can eat. All my
semi-hidden treats have been raked through. I may have to go on a snack
run as soon as they’re out of the house. Pray for us. ;-)
New Hope Resource Center is in need of Q-tips, paper towels
shampoo, conditioner, baby wipes cat food and travel size
products. Drop them at the Donation Station back by the KidZone
room.
And... Thank you ‘weeders’ for working on our gardens! If that is
something you enjoy, stop by, pick a spot and pluck a while.
What’s Goin’ On…
*Tomorrow, Saturday, there'll be a time of Sunset Worship and Prayer on
the Salvation Army sidewalk, 222 E Indiana (across from Planned
Parenthood). There will be a time of prayer, worship and reflection to
honor the dignity of every life from 6:30pm to 8. This is hosted by
Human Life Washington.
*This Sunday is Father’s Day!! At CCC that means… Pies! Bake or buy
your favorite pie and bring it, cut, Sunday morning. We’ll enjoy pie
and fellowship in honor of Dads. Woohoo!
*Our July 4 Celebration is on that Saturday here at the church, spilling
on to the lawn and even into the river. Burgers and hot dogs will be
available, you bring the side dish. We’ll have games (corn hole,
frisbee, etc), a movie and river wading or fishing. Bring any games
you’d like and chairs for your comfort. Text Chris H with your
attendance plans so they can have enough burgers and dogs.
*Sunday, July 5 we’ll celebrate the river baptisms of at least three
after the service! If you’d like to be included, see Pastor Rob.
*VBS happens here, July 20-23.
*Tickets are on sale for the Spokane Indians baseball game on Wednesday,
July 22 in the evening. See Ron Steele after the service. Tix are $14
for pretty good seats. That is a ‘cheap meal’ night too.
*Sunday evening July 26 from 6-8 is the annual free Summer Concert at
Colbert Presbyterian, benefitting New Hope Resource Center and North
County Food Pantry. There will be live music, outdoor games, raffle
baskets and food for sale.
This Sunday…
We’ll worship, pray and hear from 1 Corinthians 8 about meat
sacrificed to idols. That’s not a hot-button issue in our day, but you
might be surprised at how this applies to us. Oh, and after the service
there’ll be… pies! Bake ‘em up.
See you Sunday?
