October greetings People!

Man oh man, how’d we get to October already? I know, one day at a time, but yikes, here we are. I don’t think I was ready for September to end. I was ready for fire season to end, but once we got rain… let’s just enjoy September a bit. Already I’ve walked the dog a few times wearing my winter coat. Winter is on the way. At least we have some hopefully-not-idolatrous distractions in football, basketball (coming soon) and Green Bluff pumpkin donuts.

Deb and I are starting a discipleship-oriented, biblically-based small group at the end of October. The curriculum is called “Untying the Knots of the Heart.” If you have been struggling with things like relational issues, emptiness, loneliness, past abuse, sexual brokenness, grief or loss, feeling disconnected in faith, addiction or shame (and more), then this class might be for you. This is not an ‘open to all’ class. Confidentially is a high value in this, as is a commitment to the process. It will meet on Monday evenings for approximately 3 hours for 12 weeks. If you’re interested, talk to me and I’ll get you some info on it to see if it’s a fit for you at this time.

What’s Goin’ On…

*TODAY and TOMORROW!! Be Bold for Jesus is streaming live at our church. You can come for whatever you’re interested in: check out the schedule on the BB4J website. It’s all free! A sandwich bar will be available for lunch each day (donation basis). Youth will be downstairs and adults up.

*You Seasoned Citizens! We have lunch and fellowship happening on October 13 at noon. Talk to Nancy S or Karen R about what to bring. Soup, salad and dessert is the plan.

*The Women’s Ministry Sisterhood (dessert) Social happens on Thursday, October 8, from 7-8:30pm at the church.

*The fall Craft Fair is on Saturday, October 24. There’s room for a few more vendors (with an application process) if you’re interested.

*Don’t forget to help kids with little food on the weekends to eat with Bite-2-Go. We partner with 2nd Harvest food bank to provide easy to make weekend meals for our two elementary schools. One child is covered for the school year for $184; one month is $23 (8 months). Write checks to CCC and put Bite 2 GO on the memo line.

*The Women’s Ministry board and Showers of Blessings are both looking for a few good women. Talk to Laurie J (Women’s) and Lora H (Showers).

*Operation Christmas Child begins very soon! Grab gifts for kids (school supplies, small toys, etc) and be ready to pack those shoeboxes.

This Sunday…

Ace is in the fellowship hall at 9am. Rick continues with The Jesus Series. Upstairs, AFC (Ambassadors for Christ) happens, 5th thru 12th grade. In the service, we’ll focus more on Praise and thanks thru elder-led prayer with our quarterly Concert of Prayer.
