Salutations, Saints.
I was chewing on Matthew 11 this morning, specifically this verse: "Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls." (verse 29). Of course, there's more to that passage on rest, and it's a good one, but I was focusing on the idea of being in the yoke with Jesus and learning from him. I imagined learning to go at Jesus' pace, responding to people like he would and being led to be involved in what he saw was good. I imagined trying to not just do what I think is good to polish my image or impress others... but being led by him. I hope I get there before I slip into eternity. I think it would be the ultimate place of rest. Soul rest. Pray for me!
What's Goin' On...
*TONITE!! The talent show zings and sings starting at 6:30. I've heard rumors there will be frozen treats afterwards, but the real draw is your brothers and sisters displaying talent and having fun. Come on down!
*We still need a few adult volunteers for the nursery to sub when our worker is out. See Vickie H or Melissa.
*Check out Rick's new Senior Forum article in the office table in the foyer: How to avoid probate and set up durable power of attorney.
*This is the last Sunday to sign up for the Women's Retreat up at Riverview Bible Camp. It's set for April 24-26; $100 covers food and lodging at the newer facility. Partial scholarships are available.
*Showers of Blessings is looking for donated small scented candles for new and expectant mamas... And
*New Hope Resource Center is in particular need of toilet paper, paper towels, women's deodorant, shampoo & conditioner (travel sized), queen size sheets and blankets, drinking glasses and coffee mugs. Drop them off at our donation station back by the KidZone room.
*Save your spring cleaning stuff for the Awana rummage sale, May 15-16. Drop stuff off on the Wednesday evening and Thursday just before that.
*Save the date: the all church campout will be May 22-25. Q's? Talk to Doug C or Bud M.
This Sunday...
Ace and Ambassadors for Christ at 9am. Rick will hold forth on Union and Communion in the body of Christ. What unites us and what divides us? How do you know when it's time to leave a church? Provocative. And in the service, we'll worship, pray and hear from 1 Corinthians 3:9-17. How is your building on our church going? Check it out.
See you Sunday?
Pastor Rob
