Official Spring Greetings!
That's right—today's the day. As of 7:46 this morning (according to the pros) the vernal equinox has passed. That is, it's officially spring. Tuck that snow shovel away! Plant those starter seeds! Visit a gardening center! It will be a wrestling match for a while, but the warmer temps and sunshine will outpace the cooler. You can say with impunity—"It's spring!" Enjoy it.
My old standby scripture did it again for me this week. Sometimes I feel just dull, especially in the mornings. The psalmist did as well, after complaining to God about how the wealthy have no apparent problems. He felt a little senseless (psalm 73:21-22). But look at how he follows up on that: "Yet I am always with you; you hold me by my right hand. You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will take me into glory." (73:23-24). His conclusion? "Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail (they sure may), but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever." (73:25-26). That is real meat to my spirit. Thank you, Lord.
Don't Forget the Christ Kitchen 'Million Dollar Dime' campaign. Support women coming out of unhealthy relationships, addiction, homelessness, incarceration and more. Grab a bag in the foyer and fill it. Help Christ Kitchen support and train these women for their future. It will wrap up mid April.
What's Goin' On...
*Easter Egg Hunt (we'll need those filled plastic eggs!), Saturday, April 4, 10am, for 5th grade & younger.
*Easter breakfast, 9-9:50am, April 5. Please sign up as to what you'll bring in the foyer.
*Senior Forum, Tuesday, April 7 from 9 to 11 in the fellowship hall.
*Friday, April 17, the great annual Talent Show! Sign up with Gary D.
*April 24-26 is the Women's Retreat. Sign up is coming soon.
This Sunday...
Ambassadors upstairs and Ace in the fellowship hall at 9am. In Ace, Rick will be talking about 'masculinity'. Is that a good thing? What does the Bible say? And will Rick flex his muscles to make a point? We'll see you there at 9.
In the service, we'll worship, pray and look at the section on God's wisdom from 1 Corinthians 1:18-2:5. The Corinthians were all hot to trot on fancy speakers and cool philosophies... but they missed the boat on what God thought was wise.
See you Sunday?
